What to do if your local newspaper won't or doesn't cover Republican scandals? Nag Nag Nag.....Nag
I've been working over my local paper with letters to the editor & letters to news room staff calling their attention to specific stories. Progress has been slow, but eventually they've had a few stories on the Delay machine.
Today I went one step further & called the newsroom & pitched the Safavian story to the 1A editor. Not sure I convinced him, but when I mentioned that not since Nixon had such a high ranking White House official been convicted of a crime he paused & said "that's something to think about".
I kept it brief & very polite. Remember editors, especially local paper editors are very busy putting together the paper & don't have much time to chat. I'd guess criticizing the choice of articles wouldn't be a good move either. Remember the person you're talking to is on a deadline & is likely to cut you off if they think all they are going to hear is a rant. They want to hear something useful to them.
Help them find a story (perhaps even pointing to AP or Reuters info) & help get our story out.
