Thanks to cheeselord, (sorry, lost the link to his great diary) I was inspired to start my own "had Enough" campaign. Beginning quite modestly, I took all of the bills I had, 15 of them in varying denominations, and wrote, "Had Enough? - Vote Democratic" in indelible pen.
Eager to begin, and with great anticipation, I began my campaign at lunchtime at Taco Bell. I used two "campaign bills' to pay.

That was yesterday. See below the fold for today
First step was the carwash. I was so inspired yesterday by the results I got, that I went to the bank and got all crisp, shiny,(well, not shiny, but definitely crisp) new twenties.
This time, I used a bright blue pen (helps them to think blue), and inscribed Had Enough? Vote Democratic! over the front of the bill ( in the clear spaces.
Paid for the carwash, and the clerk just looked at the bill. I smiled broadly..."I've had it. I can't stand Bush's policies anymore. This is my personal protest." The cashier, a young man in his early twenties, looked at me like I had two heads. But then, after a pause, he said, "My brother is in Iraq. My mother cries all the time. I wish he would come home." "Oh, God, how awful for all of your family," I said.
"Yeah...I hate that "f...ing" Bush. "Well, I replied, I'm working to do everything I can to see that the Democrats get elected and end this war. I hope your brother stays safe and comes home soon." He had tears in his eyes as he handed me my change and walked away. I must admit, I had tears in my eyes too.
Second stop, Pet Smart for some dog food and treats. They know me here from bringing in the Boxer for obedience classes. I paid using my "Dollars for Dems." This time I got a very different response. A definite scowl. The clerk, a young woman, seemed to have a hard time getting the twenty to lay correctly in the drawer. She fumbled aroung with it...maybe a bit flustered by the bill and not being able to say anything. I must say, I enjoyed the moment.
Next stop Staples. Picked up a printing order. the store manager was behind the counter. He immediately commented on the bill. "Where'd you get this?, he asked. " I did it, I answered. "I wasso upset over the murder of those two soldiers the other day, and I had to do something. This is my one person protest."
"Ha! I like it. I'm gonna take this home to show my wife."
We didn't have anymore conversation than that, but I am more convinced than ever about how powerful this idea is.
Again, cheeselord, you are a genius!
If you're interested, let me know and I'll do a day three. I'm on a mission! I have lots of shopping to do tommorow and sme fresh new Dem Dollars waiting to go!
