Back in the summer of 04, as the presidential campaigns heated up, my husband handed me an 8" x 10" envelope and snickered, "Take a look at this. You won't believe what's in there."
What was in there? I'll tell you after the jump - and also explain what a glossy 8x10 photo has to do with why Bushies are scofflaws -
Well, as the hint above indicated, the envelope contained an 8x10 glossy of George and Laura Bush - signed by both and with an inscription at the bottom with my husband's name, thanking him for his support. Considering that my husband has been a Democrat since he began voting back in 1965,and that there is absolutely no one less likely to get his vote than George Bush, this was pretty surprising, so we chuckled, made some comments about the Bush campaign wasting their money, and set the glossy portrait aside. I thought about putting it on eBay, but Hubby said it wouldn't get the first bite, so we didn't think any more about it - until we got another one a couple of weeks later. We eventually received a total of four glossy 8x10s of Dubya and his old lady - my comment to Hubby was
"Damn baby they are HOT for you!"
Eventually, one of these pics made its way over to our antique shop, and at some point, I'm not sure when, someone had the bright idea of affixing it to a dart board. And yes, darts were thrown. Most people enjoyed it, some actually did take a turn throwing a dart or two, and a few were clearly unhappy about it, like the retired couple I overheard one day, whispering to each other about it: "terrible! just terrible!" they hissed, shaking their heads and shooting us dark looks. I simply smiled at them, and continued about my business. Their problem, not mine.
So I'm on the phone with Hubby this afternoon, and he tells me that our Bushpic is gone: someone apparently lifted it while he was next door at the Chinese restaurant getting lunch today. I'm sure they feel that they have won a huge victory against the 'Murica-hating Democrat dogs who desecrated the portrait of their Dear Leader, but I've got news for them: there are three more where that one came from! And I wondered what we would do with four of them!
Next Saturday, I will be at the shop, and I will be keeping an eagle eye out for any punkass repugs who try to engage in any thievery - and charges WILL be pressed if I catch anyone trying to liberate Dubya from his dartboard!
