"For the betterment of our country we need to clarify our position regarding John Bolton so that the world knows we speak with one voice."
-Senator George Voinovich, now praising Bolton, who's nomination as UN ambassador Voinovich previously opposed. (

Well, you are right, Senator. We must speak with one voice regarding our position on Ambassador Bolton. That voice should be heard by the world shouting, "Down with Bolton!"
Here's a reminder why...
"There is no such thing as the United Nations. There is only the international community, which can only be led by the only remaining superpower, which is the United States." - John R Bolton
How someone can be considered as ambassador to the UN- an organization dedicated to multilateralism, and supposedly the antithesis of US hegemony- after stating that his country should be the leader of the world is beyond me.
How about some more revealing Bolton's esteem for the UN as an institution?
The UN building, "in New York has 38 stories. If it lost ten stories, it wouldn't make a bit of difference."
Remember that as undersecretary for arms control, Bolton systematically pulled the US out of treaties. For example, he pulled us out of an agreement to deter and detect cheating on a treaty banning biological weapons. He was quoted as saying that the treaty was "dead, dead, dead." (
http://www.cbsnews.com/...). So instead of trying to revive a treaty, Bolton decided to help dig its grave. Nice, right? He also was the chief player in pulling the US out of the Anti Ballistic Missile treaty with Russia. He, like the rest of the administration favored non binding, flexible agreements (or in other words, toothless, weak, empty promises) to binding law. Isnt an ambassador to the UN supposed to be willing and eager to enter into more binding international agreements as oppposed to less agreements? I would think so, wouldnt you?
Speaking in Germany,
America and Germany can certainly agree on the importance of the development of a stable, democratic, and prosperous Iraq that does not seek to possess weapons of mass destruction ("WMD"). Here, our joint efforts will greatly aid the Iraqis in forging a government of their choosing and an economy that makes the most of their substantial resources...Saddam's removal from power has unquestionably improved the international security situation. (http://www.hsfk.de/...)
Um...sure Johnny. We've been doing a bang up job of it. Iraq is in great shape, and Hussein's removal from power has certainly had a stabilizing effect on the region. Simply prescient, John.
As the kicker, I'll leave you with Jessie Helms's (himself a bastion of freedom and democracy) ringing endorsement of Bolton from 2001.
John Bolton is the kind of man with whom I would want to stand at Armageddon, if it should be my lot to be on hand for what is forecast to be the final battle between good and evil in this world.
Considering Bolton is a charter member of the Project for a new American Century, armageddon may not be too far off.
