I think I've finally boiled down this whole "right-conservative-pro bush" vs. "left-liberal-antibush" 6 year flamewar.
One side hates to be seen as wrong, the other hates to be seen as weak. You can guess which side you're on.
In order to command the attention of the entire nation, one must be not only right, but eminently respectable as well.
So do yourself a favor. Go over to LGF or Redstate and point out what a pussy someone is. Show that their position stems from a combination of fear and weakness. You will get attention in a way that no reasonable argument possibly could.
Instructions below.
For us, it's easy to be right. We have the info. We know the statistics. We follow logic. Our problem is convincing America to listen. We need practice appearing strong. Getting street cred. Building the respect that is the currency we so undervalue.
Log onto any major righty blog and join a dialog. Equate your position with personal strength and theirs with personal weakness. Use these sorts of arguments.
(a) The strong will acknowledge a mistake, made in a complicated situation, and steer in the right direction, toward a hopeful future. The weak will pretend to not see their own failure, fear embarassment, and pray that someone will get their back.
(b) The strong are not afraid to take a challenging stance and trust the data and their experience, rather than meekly agreeing with whatever disreputable source.
(c) The strong arn't afraid of being disagreed with. Even if the other side is terminally wrong. To preach the truth in the face of unwavering opposition is what separates men from the surrender-first crowd.
Fight fire with fire. If the language decends into humiliating insults, pick a goodie and then move on. I reccomend something that combines pop-culture with sexual overtones. It hits where it hurts.
Here are some issue -> strength tethers to get you started.
Forign Policy:
Point out that it takes the stronger man to accept the pain of the failure our policy than to continue to insist you were right all along. Self delusion is the tool of the weak. Advocating violence for the sake of violence only makes you feel like a man, just like those loser Columbine goth kids.
Minimum wage
Anyone who thinks they made their fortune because of their personal skills and hard work needn't be afraid of the Government. Why are they afraid that raising the minimum wage is going to ruin their fortune? It's not like burger boy is going to be hiring you in a year to dust his credenza. Stop being such a baby and let the minwagers afford groceries.
Abortion Choice and Drug War
Are such a weak minded individual that you need the government to tell you right from wrong? Do you need help making your personal choices from your elected representatives? Can't you think for yourself? Let the hell-bound go to hell. Do you need me to hold your hand while you plan your life?
