Look, C-SPAN, I actually really like you. You're not like the other news channels. For one thing, while they seem to enjoy shrieking in my ear, you never raise your voice, and I like that. You don't insult my intelligence with breaking news about ten-year-old murder cases. You've never once tried to make me scared of my shampoo, or my sports drinks. I feel like you respect me, and I appreciate that. Also, I like your taste in music.
But I have to say, I'm a little weirded out by the listing on your website right now.
What's at Stake in 2006 Vote?
Four journalists examine the policy implications of the upcoming Nov. elections.
Okay, seems fine. Who do you have? They're probably from well-established, mainstream news organizations, right? Maybe someone like Tom Oliphant? Christiane Amanpour? Jonathan Alter? I'll even settle for Karen Tumulty.
The panel includes:
John Fund, Wall Street Journal; John Gizzi, Human Events; Robert Novak, Syndicated Columnist; & Kate O'Beirne, National Review. Paul Weyrich, Free Congress Foundation Chair. & CEO, moderates the discussion.
Look, C-SPAN, I know it's just a little blurb on a website, and I'm probably overreacting, but partisan Republicans masquerade as "journalists" or "experts" on the other news channels every day, and I thought you were a little better than that.
So, I'm just a little turned off right now, that's all.
