'Cause I'm Kerrycrat after all. Kerry news will be at the end for those who wanna just skip to it.
But I wanted to start with a freeper encounter I had yesterday about Teddy Kennedy. He must have struck a nerve, God bless him.
There's a freeper who comes to my place of work each night to pick up boxes for a courier who delivers them the next day. He's been on my back since he saw my Kerry button. I'll never forget THAT encounter. He started bouncing up and down and chanting "flip, flop, flip, flop, flip, flop." Picture a middle aged pudgy man bouncing around like a little kid on a school playground, and you'll get the picture.
Anyway, he came in last night, and began with "Did you hear that drunk Teddy Kennedy wrote a children's book?"
Silence.
"Nothing to say to that?"
"Not if you're going to start off that way."
"I knew it! Just because I said he was a drunk!"
To which I replied, "I wouldn't be so cocky if I were you. Your president used to be a cokehead."
Insert several "Did not's" "Did too's" here.
"Well, no one's perfect."
"Fine, then the same should apply to Teddy"
"Well, did you hear he killed a girl?"
"Well, did YOU hear that Laura killed her boyfriend?"
"What?!"
"Look it up."
He started to say that he didn't want to talk politics with me any more if we couldn't keep it on a friendly basis, to which I replied, "Starting off with 'Teddy the drunk' was KEEPING IT ON A FRIENDLY BASIS?!"
"What do I expect from someone with a Kerry in 2008 bumpersticker on her car already." (and I do, too)
He then changed the subject to wiretapping, saying it would be a big issue for 2008. "All the other presidents did it."
"And Nixon. He got impeached for it too."
"Hoover did it."
"And Nixon. He got impeached for it."
"I'm not talking about that. You Democrats think we should be treating terrorists like the two bit drug dealer down the street."
"And you Republicans think that you can fight a concept. It's like trying to fight the wind. Why not treat terrorism like crime. Take away their funds for instance, by say cutting the poppy trade in Afghani..."
(Didn't get to finish as he went back to his "but other presidents got to wiretap! No fair!" defense)
"Well, other presidents did it. Like Kennedy, and Clinton."
"And Nixon. He got impeached for it."
"Stop saying that."
"Is Bush wiretapping terrorists, or his own political enemies? And how come the guy who made the film "Bush's Brain" is on a no-fly list. Is he a terrorist? And Teddy Kennedy. Why was he on a no-fly list."
"He was not."
"It. was. in. the. news. Look. it. up."
"Well you guys think we should treat terrorists..."
I started to close the overhead garage door on his head. That stopped him. Made a joke of it, but I was picturing slamming it behind him. He said he was about to say something else, but I'd get mad at him if he did. And with that he left.
How did I do?
Makes me wonder what Hannity was saying tonight. This guy tends to regurgitate what he hears from Hannity. If I ask him questions, he generally just repeats what he said.

US Senator Kerry meets PM
NEW DELHI, JAN 11 (PTI)
US Senator and former Democrat Presidential candidate John Kerry met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here today and the two leaders are understood to have discussed the ongoing bilateral talks on civilian nuclear cooperation among various facets of bilateral relations.
The two leaders are also believed to have shared views on various regional and international issues of mutual concern, official sources said.
The regional issues included those related to Pakistan, Afganistan, Nepal and Iran, they said.
The visit of Kerry, who came close to being elected as US President last year, assumes significance as it takes place as the Bush Administration is preparing to approach the American Congress for ratification of the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal signed during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Washington visit in July last.

Also, a press statement from the Senator on body armor and such, mid-travel:
John Kerry Credits Failed Leadership by Bush and Rumsfeld for Troops Not Having Body Armor That Can Save Lives
January 10th, 2006
This weekend a secret Pentagon report was released by the NY Times that showed that "as many as 80 percent of the marines who have been killed in Iraq from wounds to the upper body could have survived if they had had extra body armor."
While traveling on a 12 day tour of Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Senator John Kerry issued a statement on that report today, calling for an investigation and immediate delivery of new body armor:
"There is simply no excuse for our troops not having the body armor that can save their lives. It's a tragic and stark reminder of the very real human cost being paid for this administration's mistakes. Failed leadership by the President and Secretary of Defense is no excuse and no solace.
"My thoughts and prayers go out to those families whose hearts are breaking again with this news.
"Congress has appropriated billions of dollars for this very need--the failure is the administration's. It's time for them to hold people accountable and deliver. No more rhetoric, no more lip service. Our troops deserve no less."
And there you have it.
