Once again it appears that the Dems are going to roll over as usual. No filibuster, no real fight. Only empty words.
Roe will be gone within 10 years and the Presidency will obtain King-like powers that the founding fathers would have fought to the death to prevent.
The Dems could win this thing big AND win the public's heart if they would get their heads out of their ass and learn to play drama like the GOP has mastered.
Commerce Clause, 20 year old job applications, blah blah blah blah...
They have a winner with the strip searching of a 13 year old girl. - Yes, I know that the case involved a statute 1983 action and the complex question qualified immunity - but do the details really matter? If the past 6 years have taught us anything, it is that the American people, God Bless 'em, couldn't care less about details. They respond to drama.
Here, we have a 13 year old white (sadly, it matters ) girl who was stripped search by government agents who were unauthorized to do so. Scalito wrote a dissenting opinion in which he condoned such action.
If only the Dems were to stand up and say, "ENOUGH! Alito and the Republicans believe that they can send armed agents to strip search your children without a proper warrant. Will will fight with every tool at our disposal to prevent the Republicans from bringing our nation to the point where state-sanctioned molestation of your children is somehow acceptable. The Republicans may call us obstructionists for this filibuster. The pundants may say that it is bad politics for us to take this course of action. But we believe that protecting America's children from being sexually humiliated at the hands of armed government agents is more important than political considerations. This is AMERICA, and in America parents shouldn't have to worry about armed agents knocking on their door demanding to remove their daughter's clothing. So we say NO to Alito and NO to the dangerous direction the Republican party wants to take our nation
Of course that would take backbone.
Democrats, the leaders in inventing new ways to lose
