I'm watching John Murtha on
60 Minutes. I must say he's very, very impressive. He really can defend himself, despite getting very little help from the Democratic establishment. Murtha read a letter from a soldier who says Iraq can't stand on its own. They also highlighted the president's opposition. He actually said that Kerry, Clinton and other Democrats were scared to speak out. He says it how he sees it. I'm sure Murtha is a pretty conservative guy. However, here is someone who can speak to what he believes in.
I don't normally write many diaries anymore. It's kind of depressing to see them scroll into oblivion. I felt I must write this because I just got finished reading several threads about how we should abandon the party. I can't tell you what to do, but I see big changes in the party since 2004. We have people like Murtha, Reid, Pelosi and Kennedy standing up and speaking out. Yes, there are still "triangulators" in the party. The only way to change things is to work from the inside. Vote in local elections, work with the local parties. Run for office yourself. Remaking a political party takes a long time. It won't happen without us. You must follow your own conscience.

In the interview, Murtha said he had gotten a lot of mail, about 80% positive. If you haven't written him expressing your support, his website is
