I know people are disgusted with our leadership in the party and people like me, who voted for Nader in 2000, now have their feelings confirmed that there really isn't two parties in America. but the solution isn't to go join the Greens or become independent. if this were a parliamentary system like in Europe, with a proportional system, then of course we could all jump ship. but we don't have that. we have winner-take-all systems. so for us to be relevant, to be able to get policies that represent progressive values instead of corporate money, we have to take over the Democratic party and kick out all the appeasers and weasels who are selling us out (i must say i voted for Tom Campbell instead of Dianne Feinstein last election cause i thought he at least had some integrity and i was right...).
we must pull a Christian Coalition-New Gingrich and basically make it so "Moderates" are completely marginalized and the debate is controlled by true believer ideologues in the manner of Tom DeLay. The people who most represent our views--the Wellstones, Feingolds, are on the fringe in our party, their nutcase true believers run the show. and all now look at what we've gotten. 2 huge ass tax cuts. a war. and now the first step towards medicare destruction. can't wait for social security!! now the modern disciplined GOP didn't arise overnight. they ran for local school boards, concentrated on building think tanks, then took over local and state parties. that's what we need to do too, instead of just bitching online about how bad things are...
