Yesterday evening,
I blogged about how it took Sam Alito to get my ass out of bed, literally and figuratively. I'm wondering how many other Kossacks had the same experience.
I've lurked at Daily Kos for close to a year, but it took this weekend's campaign to light a fire in my heart. Not that I was a total couch potato in recent years; my wife and I donated heavily to Kerry's campaign, and we are quick to write checks to ACLU, Amnesty International, and Planned Parenthood.
In the last few months, check-writing no longer satisfied my urge to do something. I began writing more and more political entries on my blog (much to my audience's ire, since they come for the humor)and I wrote my congressmen regularly. But even that has become an increasingly hollow experience.
In the last few days, however, I've been calling, emailing, blogging, and faxing up a storm -- and it feels good. Even if we lost yesterday (and it wasn't all bad news, as you all know), I still feel good.
And so, an informal roll call. If you, too, evicted yourself from the couch this weekend, jump up and down, wave your hand -- leave a comment, for heaven's sake. Be proud. We finally got off our asses, and hallelujah for that.
