MANAGUA, Nicaragua Oct 2, 2006 (AP)-- The recent military build-up in Venezuela by U.S. nemesis President Hugo Chavez has other countries in the region worried that the weapons could end up in the hands of terrorists, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Monday.
Well, you know, we really need a new war to pump the people up, and maybe Iran is just too much trouble. After all...
...we have so many people fighting in that part of the world already, the voters would probably just yawn at yet another desert war. Been there, done that....the Middle East is soooo boring. Besides, Iran is so damn far away, and although no doubt the Iranians would probably immediately rise up, overthrow the mullahs, install a Western-style democracy and hail us as liberators, there is the very very slim chance they might stir up some trouble in Iraq, Israel, maybe shut down the Persian Gulf.
But Venezuela! Ah, now there is a little war that the people could get behind! After all, didn't that damn Chavez just insult our Dear Leader in front of the United Nations? And yeah, they've got tons of oil, just like Iran. Damn, we could win this war with our eyes closed, and I'm sure the people of Venezuela would greet us as liberators, and we'd probably inspire the people of Cuba to rise up as well.
C'mon everybody, let's go! We've got us a new invasion to run! Heeee-Yaaaahhhh!
