Granted it's an internal
poll, but Porter's low job approval and the large group of undecideds reflect what callers and knockers are hearing from voters about their dissatisfaction with the status quo and distrust of Jon Porter's sleazy campaign of discredited lies.
If the election were held today for Nevada's Third Congressional District, a new poll shows that the race between Congressional challenger and native Nevadan Tessa Hafen and incumbent Jon Porter is too close to call. In a poll done by Momentum Analysis, Tessa Hafen would receive 37 percent of the vote and Jon Porter would receive 41 percent, with 14% of voters undecided. Given the margin of error, the results show the race has tightened to become a dead heat. The numbers demonstrate that with only weeks to go, the Hafen-Porter head-to-head has become one of the closest House races in the country.
Tessa Hafen, shown with Sen. Max Cleland, is a proven fighter from her eight years as a media and legislative aide to Sen. Reid and in this campaign. She called for Rumsfeld's ouster in her first
ad, one of the earliest challengers to do so. Her rapid response to Porter's risible lies about her Nevada roots has earned the
respect of local media and made him look, well, "idiotic," according to John. L. Smith.
Now there's a new television piece coming out, but the theme remains the same: Tessa Hafen, Outsider.
It's hard to describe in polite terms just how idiotic those TV spots look in the face of the facts.
And to vilify her for spending most of the past decade in Washington working the political aisles on behalf of Nevada interests seems, well, like someone criticizing Congressman Porter for not being home enough when his job has been in the nation's capital.

Porter on PredatorGate: In a written statement because he refuses to speak directly with reporters, Porter bravely said the page program should be suspended, in other words, blame and punish the teen-agers in order to divert attention away from the cover-up by the leaders whose money he sucks up to stay in office. Rather than call for Hastert's resignation, he supports another one of the House's non-investigations. He's collected 30K from Hastert, 10K from Boehner and 10K from Reynolds and thousands more from Tom DeLay to run his sleazy campaigns.
He collaborated with Foley to craft a law to require background checks on school teachers that was designed solely to be the centerpiece in their re-election bids. From the website of Mark Steven Kirk, IL-10:

Protecting Our Children
On Wednesday, the House passed the Children's Safety and Violent Crime Reduction Act. This legislation gives states and local school districts additional tools to protect children from the risks of sexual predators by giving access to federal databases to ensure pedophiles and other violent criminals are not hired as teachers and coaches- a key provision of the "Suburban Agenda" proposed by myself, Jon Porter and Mark Foley. This act is an example of the common sense, pro-family legislation that will improve communities across Illinois and the Nation.
Hafen's legislative experience, energy, intelligence and compassion promise that she will be a key member in the new Democratic majority. She has studied renewable energy solutions that can bring economic diversity to Southwestern states and reduce dependence on foreign oil. She passionately supports active military, veterans and military retirees, unlike Porter who consistently votes against their interests. Goes without saying that she will be independent of special interests.
