The Republican party owes the American people an apology. Impossible as it sounds considering the party is made up of a collective group of individuals rather than one person.
Speaker Hastert's apology this week was a total sham. A lie piling on top of a stack of more lies.
He says "the buck stops with him," but goes off into one of those Bill O'Reilly paranoia rants where the blame is shifted to George Soros, ABC, and Bill Clinton.
It appears that "honesty" and "integrity" are just brilliant marketing slogans for the GOP and not realistic goals that can be easily accomplished.
The sad part of this tawdry saga is the responses of Conservative activists and pundits who ridiculously believe that the Congressional Pages were involved in a prank to sucker Rep. Foley.
Matt Drudge, Paul Weyrich, James Dobson, Michael Savage, and Pat Buchanan should never be allowed to belch out the words "honesty" and "integrity" ever again.
If they knew what it was then collectively they would've gotten together and blasted Speaker Hastert for his covering up of Foley's tawdry conversations with his young pages.
Speaker Hastert has the balls to claim Soros is behind this whole saga, but does he have the guts to call out those pundits and preachers who sniff at his crotch all day and tell them, "you're wrong."
When Ann Coulter's book "Godless" criticized the 9/11 widows for allegedly enjoying the fruits of their husbands' death, Conservatives from Mary Matalin to Jack Burkman praised Ann Coulter for her swiftboating of the 9/11 widows. Yet, not one, NOT ONE prominent Republican stepped out to say, "Ann Coulter doesn't speak for me."
We don't see it here.
Speaker Hastert needs the Conservative base to rally around a President who is a historical failure. And what better way to stir up emotions by pinning the blame on old rivals like George Soros and Bill Clinton.
Even if it means blaming an underage Congressional page.
To the whole Republican party, you disgust me.
The whole "moral values" and "family orientated" persona is nothing more than a sham.
You can no longer be the ones to count on when protecting the most precious and innocent.
You were never counted on to protect us from anything.
Look at the record under Republican rule.
9/11.
Hurricane Katrina.
Iraq.
Foleygate.
If I were a Republican I wouldn't run on my record. I would swiftboat everyone who knew the truth.
But to blame young kids for stepping forward and exposing Rep. Foley for what he did, is truly unacceptable and unforgivable.
It's all about power.
The Conservatives can own the Government and would go to great lengths, even smearing victims of a sexual predator.
Disgraceful.
We need accountability, not protection of the all powerful and mighty.
We need an official apology from those who failed us.
We need it now.
