If you caught the first debate, you might have raised an eyebrow at Governor Jennifer Granholms "cheap shot" at Dick
Pyramid Scheme DeVos - a lot of people did. I didn't.
The Governor was asking DeVos why he hadn't disclosed his tax returns. A simple question, needing a simple answer. Instead he gave some drivel about he had prepared his own statement which included everything you need to know, mister. He had it coming.
That's when Granholm dropped the "A" bomb.
"He didn't want us to know about that perhaps because he didn't want us to know about the physical and sexual abuse of those Alzheimer's patients (at Altera, a nursing home,) You invested $200 million or $170 million. That's a big investment even for you."
It probably didn't have much bearing on the discussion, because he had already sold his stock, and the company had folded. But, he said he was providing everything back ten years. Altera fell within in his own time frame. So if you ask me, Jen had every right to bring it up.
Granholm was unflappable, and spoke as if she had her last 4 years, and DeVos' last 10 memorized. She spoke to the moderators as if she'd just played a round of golf with them. And she looked as cool as an incumbant cucumber.
DeVos, on the other hand, was excessively flowery, evangelical, and he sweat like a pig everytime he got pinned into a corner. DeVos' delivery is a bit like he's reading My Pet Goat aloud to a room full of 3 year olds. And occasionally, he attempts to capture a feeling of pity in his voice. His whole demeaner is just plain funny. I dare you not to laugh.
Pundits are saying tongiht's debate (8pm EST streaming live on WOOD TV Grand rapids ) will be a little more tame, and little heavier on substance.
DeVos will likely fare better because he'll be permitted to do what he does best - preach without interruption. Fortunately the clock, and the moderator will prevent his fact-free sermons from setting of the hot-air alarms.
