If you want a progessive idea, turn to a real Progressive, uppercase "P." Exhibit A: Gov. Howard Dean's 50-state strategy.
Things look good right now. It is no time to get cocky as everything can slip away overnight, as we have seen in the past. Nonetheless, I have something I want to say tonight as races across the country and not in select regions, states, or districts will determine whether the Bush Administration is brought to heel:
Thank you, Governor Dean!
In Tennessee, Harold Ford, Jr., is poised to take a Republican seat held by the Majority Leader. How many DLC types would have even contested that election?
In Indiana, Democratic congressional candidates are poised to win. How many DLC types would have invested a dime there?
And so it goes. Gov. Dean has proven something important: if you play on a small field, you have small results and small opportunities. Dean bucked the conventional wisdom, and has helped turn around the Democratic Party's fortunes.
I wanted this diary posted well before November 7th. That night, if all goes as it now seems, success will have a thousand fathers. If this had not worked out as it has thus far, we all know who the DLC would have blamed--the Netroots and the man who recognized the potential for change from the bottom up. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Governor.
Now let's get off our asses and go back to work!
