It's time people! We are closing in with less than 4 weeks left until the elections on November 7th. We are up against a well oiled, well manned, well funded Republican machine. If you haven't already, it's time to get in gear and volunteer in what ever way you can.
This one is for all the marbles!
We need volunteers to overcome the huge advantage that the Republican machine has in sophistication, money and manpower. Get involved with your local Democratic headquarters and help man (or woman) the phones, walk the neighborhoods with pamphlets, stand on a street corner on election day with a sign, deliver signs, drive people to the poles, or even just drop off supplies, snacks and bottles of water for those who are doing the leg work.
Do it! And by the way, it's FUN! I've had the biggest laughs and most heartening conversations I've ever had with others like me who are helping. One of them had a cow bell and rang it every time he had a successfully call! It wasn't annoying...really...because you know, we could all use a little more Cowbell!
Right now I'm volunteering at the Democratic headquarters in Walla Walla, Washington and am doing whatever I can to help Peter Goldmark in the WA-05 race, but I am also helping every other candidate all the way down to County Commissioner. I talk to paid political operatives from the "big" campaigns when they come through. They're not the animals I always thought they were ;)
I learn a lot and believe me, they do as well.
We have some competitive races that need your help right now. Peter Goldmark in the WA-05 district is within range (8 points) and closing. He is running against Republican Cathy McMorris who has a high negative approval rating. The race with Darcy Burner in the WA-08 district is a toss up. This is the race that could decide control of the House.
For those of you in red counties it's even more important and ANY effort you make will be appreciated more and will have a much larger effect. Get out of your partisan loneliness! Go hang out with those who are just like you and help! Do it now! It's good for the soul!
So here's where you go to help out, Washington State Democrats.
And if you're in another State, don't let that stop you! Go here and find your way to a local headquarters!
Just to make it easier, here's a list of people in your county that you can call directly.
And if you just happened to be in Walla Walla, this is where you belong!
Do it! At least buy a bag of chips, a jar of salsa and a bottle of soda, then call the number and take it down to them! If you can help out 1 hour a week then do it! You'll feel better, we'll fell better, your country will feel better!
I'll even list the numbers for each district to make it easier! There is a real person at the end of each one of these lines that is working very hard and can use all the encouragement you can give! At least call and say "Way to go! I appreciate your hard work!"...and then ask how you can help.

Do something! Staple or fold fliers for the afternoon! Get a case of something caffeinated and some pretzels, take it to your headquarters and chat with them while they munch. Bake a pie and feed it to our troops on election day!
Don't make me beg! I hate begging but I will if it will work! This is the big one folks! Everyone needs to push and push NOW!
