I've had enough. Even if I were willing to forgive and forget the lies spewed to get our vote, (which I'm not) I can't forgive or forget the broken oath to uphold the constitution.
Below is a copy of my letter to Senator Bill Nelson (D-Fl) with a copy to Katherine Harris (R-Fl) and Saint Petersburg Times.
Senator Bill Nelson
716 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510
Senator Nelson,
When I walk into the voting booth on November 7, I will be faced with a decision I would never have expected to face in America. I will not forget what you have done!
I will have to decide between Katherine Harris, a republican who helped to steal an election and you, Bill Nelson a democrat, who helped to destroy our constitution or not voting at all.
My disgust for both of you is beyond belief. William Gladstone said, "Nothing that is morally wrong can be politically right." There can be no excuse offered by either of you sufficient to excuse what you have done.
Democracy requires honorable people do the right thing so, although not voting at all is very enticing that would be abdicating my moral responsibility and ultimately be as evil as what you both have done. Because we have men and women fighting and dying in our name.
Therefore, I have decided to vote for you this time. But only because I refuse to abdicate my responsibility to my country. This country is on the wrong path and the only hope we have under the present circumstances to get our troops home is to change the makeup of congress.
However, I want you to know that immediately after the election I will begin to work to see that there is someone to successfully run against you when this term expires. I will also be working to see that any of the other democrats or republicans in the house or senate who voted for this unconstitutional abomination lose in their next election. It will be my goal to see that none of you ever hold another elected office in the United States.
Mark Twain, remarked "it is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world, and moral courage so rare." So, when you get back to Washington, try to do the right thing. Restore our constitution and stop the occupation, bring our troops home before any more die.
Regretfully yours,
Rena Phillips
Florida Democrat

And I won't forget. In the early 1960's we bought a Magnavox TV. One of the first large screen console type, tv, radio and phonograph all enclosed in a wooden cabinet. The television was a lemon. When they refused to stand behind their one year warranty, I promised them I would not forget and I haven't. I won't purchase anything with the Magnavox name and at every chance I warn friends and everyone else that it is not a company to be trusted. That their warranties are not worth the paper on which they are written. Also, in the early 1960's I was told that I was approved for credit by J.C. Penny Co. But I would have to sign the agreement as MRS.__. Not with my own name. When I finished tearing the agreement to shreds in front of the startled clerk, I told him I would never set foot in another Penny's store and I haven't.
I have a list of every Senator and Representative who voted for the torture bill and against the constitution. I won't forget any of them. I will be watching all of their careers from now on and will do all I can to foil any plans they may have for any future public office.
