The
Evansville Courier and Press has released a poll with
Brad Ellsworth leading incumbent John Hostettler by 23 points:
The poll of 626 likely voters in Indiana's 8th District shows Ellsworth with a commanding 55 percent of the vote and Hostettler with 32 percent. Undecided voters number 11 percent, and 2 percent refused to answer or said they would support neither candidate.
Hostettler campaign response is hysterical...
Hostettler issued the following statement:
"This is an interesting snapshot of the race - as have all of the polls been thus far. We look forward to the final poll on Nov. 7, and anticipate the next three weeks to be very exciting."
This is definately an outlier, but I think its a solid picture of where Hostettler is headed. Theres been rumors for days now that the Indiana Republican Party and the National Republican Party were planning on bailing on Hostettler and focusing efforts towards Sodrel (IN-09 vs. Baron Hill) and Chocola (IN-02 vs. Joe Donnelly).
This with news that Dr. Hayhurst in IN-03 has saved his money for a closing ad campaign that has Souder with his pants-down so to say.
Indiana is battleground 2006. We're ready to sweep.
I canvassed yesterday, I'll put in a few nights this week. I'm planning a 4-day blitz Saturday-Tuesday election day. Got the bug yet? Get out and volunteer.
