I was curious to see what Google News (which sucks, by the way) would turn up about the CT 3-way Senate debate today.
Here are some links and headlines...
Greater Danbury leads with
"Democrat, Republican assail Lieberman in Senate debate"
.
Faux News Channel uses the same construction, with Lieberman named ("Rivals Take Shots at Lieberman in Debate"). An earlier version had Lamont's name in the headline. How did that happen? Good thing someone caught that and they took his name out. Whew.
Ok, I think all the headlines so far are wire reports from Andrew Miga. Hence, they all have the same headline. The narrative? Lieberman's puny little rivals are taking shots at him. Probably just trying to tear him down. They hate freedom/America. Miga describes Schles as "long shot Republican Alan Schlesinger"
From the ABC News website, Miga's account:
Schlesinger, recalling Lieberman's public scolding of former President Clinton during the sex scandal involving a White House intern, sniped at Lieberman for being out of Washington as North Korea pursued its nuclear ambitions.
"The question should be why has Joe Lieberman over the last 18 years not been there on this issue," Schlesinger said. "Joe, you had more moral outrage about Mr. Clinton's indiscretions than about North Korea's nuclear proliferation."
He also branded Lieberman part of what he called the "ostrich club" in the Senate.
"They stick their head in the sand and hope something good will come out of it," the Republican said.
Lieberman has won support from some top Republicans and the White House has declined to support Schlesinger, 48, a former mayor and state representative.
Miga made sure to remind Connecticut's Republican voters: Remember the game plan folks, we're going with Joe? Everyone got it? Ok.
