On Thursday, October 19th, Tammy Duckworth and Peter Roskam debate each other live on WBEZ 91.5. Public radio has invited listeners to submit questions for the debate
through their site, and I think we should take them up on the offer. Keep reading for ideas.
Obviously they're not going to use anything like, "Why is Bush such putrid scum?" much as we'd love them to. Regardless, I think we can ask important, respectful, and completely neutral questions that play to Tammy Duckworth's strengths.
For example, we could ask, "How do you view the Bush administration's current policies in Iraq?" That question doesn't directly pander to either side, but emphasizes an issue (Iraq) that Democrats, especially a Fighting Dem, have an advantage on this cycle.
What I'd like to ask the community is this: What issues we should ask about? Iraq seems like such a no-brainer. Foley, Abramoff, or any generic corruption question, also favors Democrats right now. What other issues work? What questions should we ask?
The email address is right here for easy access. It would be really nice if any residents of IL on this site, especially the sixth district, could email in a question or comment tonight or tomorrow during the day. I'm in IL-16 but considering how pivotal these elections are, I feel obliged to submit an entry. What's a 30-minute drive between friends anyway? Who's with me?
