There are many informative news stories that come out of Iraq, reports that shed some light on the complex and ongoing battle of Baghdad.
The problem is, that's the only story. Baghdad is not Iraq and a lot of the bigger picture is found outside of the capitol. Sure, the highest casualty figures are there and the national government is there, but the strongholds of the various factions of the conflict are found in the Sunni/Shia/Kurdish spheres and funnel into Baghdad. Why are all the bylines from Baghdad? I'm in a Sunni area away from Baghdad and the only reporter I've see is from the Army Times. The insurgents use the hinterlands to hide caches and personel. But every report I see outside of Baghdad is only a Department of Defense press release. Where is the media?
