President Bush has done us a huge favor. We now have all the tools we need to outlaw, once and forever, every single member of the entire Republican Party, every single one of them.
The rules and laws that Bush has put into place don't just apply to him. They apply to ANY President of the United States, including the next President.
When the President divided the nation along partisan lines for political gain, he hurt all of us in a meaningful and terrible way. In fact, his actions and those of all his I'll follow you off the cliff supporters can be thought to be treasonous in light of the potential they have for causing social unrest and someday, possibly, blood in the streets. This gives the
next President a
charge with which to pursue these "domestic enemies".
When the President suspended Habeas Corpus, he provided a tool the next President can use to declare all Republicans as "unlawful enemies" and have them all rounded up and put away with no charges and no representation. We will be able to make them "disappear".
When the President had the laws re-written, gutting Posse Comitatus, so that he could use the National Guard (any Governor's National Guard even if he objects) as his own, personal national police force, he provided the next President with the ability to make them disappear.
When the President, through Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, and the entire republican media attack squad, effectively silenced the national media using "FOX News" as a personal propaganda machine and consolidating and emasculating our mainstream media, he provided us with the perfect method of managing the message, and, potentially, a huge political target, "FOX News" if they don't "play along", with which our next President can begin the purging.
And finally, by setting the precedent of using "signing statements" to ignore, or re-write, any law he wishes, President Bush has provided the next President with the legal means to completely outlaw the Republican party, and all its supporters.
Ah, won't it be grand? I can hear the congressional investigations now. "Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Republican Party?"
Of course, this all assumes that the current President hasn't thought of this first and isn't preparing to outlaw the Democratic Party.
But, if you thought any of this sounded like a good idea, and I'm sure there are some of us who are at least willing to entertain the idea, then maybe it is already too late for BOTH parties, and possibly, too late for America.
