NY-19 Democratic Challenger John Hall steps up to the plate in Colbert's vaunted "Better Know A District" segment! How will the challenger fare? Will Congressmember Sue Kelly (R) show up, or will she leave us with another empty chair segment? Take the jump and find out!
Hall did a great job on the Colbert Report tonight. Intelligent, quick witted, and good humored enough to laugh a little at himself (without laughing on air) John showed someof the many characteristics that have made his effort so successful to this point. He'd definitely do the "Fighting 19th" well. Now, I found out on the boards that this segment was actually taped a little while ago, but even Colbert played up Sue's unwillingness to show up, saying she melted like velveeta when offered the opportunity to be on the show. Man, if only this had been a live show, they could've used the RNN footage!
I'm sure our friends over at Crooks and Liars will put up the segment fairly soon. With yesterday's fundraiser in Tarrytown with Bonnie Raitt, and now this exposure on the Colbert Report, John's really picking up steam. But if there's anything I've learned in the last several years, it's that it doesn't look good until the last votes are counted.
