This was a GREAT day for
Linda Stender, Democratic challenger to incumbent Mike Ferguson in NJ's 7th District.
Linda nabbed the endorsement of the NY Times.
THEN, she took the endorsement of the Star-Ledger.
The NJ media is waking up - Mike Ferguson is wrong on stem cells, wrong on choice, wrong on Iraq, wrong on the budget, wrong on the environment...
And Linda Stender is right. Welcome home, New Jersey.
From the NY Times:
Mr. Ferguson, who is regarded as a backbencher in the House, has in the past opposed some of the administration's efforts to backtrack on environmental protection, but he has shifted recently to a more compliant position. To his credit, he continues to support gun controls.
Over all, however, we consider Ms. Stender, a member of the New Jersey Assembly since 2002, as someone who would better stand up to the Bush administration for the district's best interests. She wins our endorsement.
from the Star-Ledger:
Ferguson is an enthusiastic booster of President Bush's tax policy and the effort to make his cuts permanent, even those cuts that disproportionately benefit the wealthy and are guaranteed to raise the federal deficit. Stender recognizes that it is irresponsible to cut taxes when the nation is financing a difficult war in Iraq...
Given the overall scorecard, we believe Stender should represent the people of the 7th District.
George, it's not looking very good for us at the moment...
Linda Stender for Congress!
