So we could all be forgiven if we haven't heard about this story because it hasn't even hit the American media, and has
barely even made the British national media, but local media has done a terrific job in uncovering this story.
A former right-wing candidate living outside of London has been accused of "possessing the largest amount of chemical explosives of its type ever found in the country."
Ex-BNP man faces explosives charge"
A FORMER British National Party member has been accused of possessing the largest amount of chemical explosives of its type ever found in the country.
Robert Cottage, 49, of Talbot Street, Colne, appeared before Burnley magistrates charged with possession of an explosive substance.
Cottage was charged under the Explosives Substances Act 1883 on Monday night after forensic experts searched his home, allegedly discovering chemical components which could be used to make explosives.
Officers claim that their find is the largest haul of chemicals of its kind discovered in someone's home in the country.
However, the exact nature of the chemicals has not been revealed.
Ex-BNP man held in 'bomb' swoop
A FORMER British National Party member has been arrested after police found bomb-making equipment at his house.
Police sealed off the home of Robert Cottage in Talbot Street, Colne, after storming the address and discovering chemical components that could be used to make explosives.
The 49-year-old has been arrested under the Explosives Act on suspicion of possessing chemicals that may be capable of making an explosion.
However Superintendent Neil Smith moved to reassure residents and stressed: "It is not a bomb making factory" and added that it was not related to terrorism.
Of COURSE it's not related to terrorism.
Why is this not splashed across TV screens all over the country? Why are we not being scared out of our wits by 24 hour coverage of this on CNN?
Because brown people "plotting" are MUCH scarier than right-wing politicians actually stockpiling weapons of mass destruction. The BNP is "the most prominent far-right political party in the United Kingdom."
By the way, I found out about this through metafilter, which is actually pretty good for finding out about things like this.
