So! After 2,800 US troops dead in Iraq and hundreds more in Afghanistan, we are offering amnesty to insurgents who killed those men and women and are making nice with the Taliban and even al-Queda through Pakistan's peace deal. This is the final outrage. All of that death for this--and we knew all along it would end like this.
Remember Maliki wanted to offer amnesty when he first took over and the uproar in the US was so great, he had to drop the idea. Now Bush is "asking" him to offer unconditional amnesty!
Also I created a poll asking if you think "Retreatican" would help us fight Rove's meme of "Defeatocrat".
More below the fold:
This from the
AP on Sunday
Hoping to find a political solution, the Bush administration has asked the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to issue an unconditional amnesty to Sunni Muslim insurgents, prominent Kurdish lawmaker Mahmoud Othman told the Associated Press. He is a confidante of Jalal Talabani, the country's president.
He and Hassan al-Seneid, a member of parliament close to al-Maliki, also told AP that U.S. officials were engaged in ongoing talks with members of the insurgency, including members of Saddam Hussein's outlawed Baath Party, to seek an end to the fighting that has plagued American forces in Baghdad, its environs and sprawling Anbar province in the west of the country.
Members of al-Qaida in Iraq are not included in either the talks or the U.S. amnesty proposal, which would require Iraqi government approval and is by no means certain since it is controlled by Shiites.
President George W. Bush held a series of meetings over the weekend with top U.S. military and security officials to address the spiraling violence in Iraq, where 87 U.S. service members have been killed in October, the most for any month since November 2004.
Bush is "asking" Maliki to give amnesty even to those who killed Coalition troops. When this issue came up before, the Retreaticans said it was only amnesty for those who did not kill US troops. This time AP is saying a blanket unconditional amnesty. Tie that with Frist's statements on the Taliban getting amnesty becoming part of the government, the Pakistan Peace Deal (which Bush never complained about) and you have the Big Picture on the Retreatican Strategery, their real plan--to lose the wars.
From the AP:
QALAT, Afghanistan -- U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Monday that the Afghan war against Taliban guerrillas can never be won militarily and urged support for efforts to bring "people who call themselves Taliban" and their allies into the government.
The Tennessee Republican said he learned from briefings that Taliban fighters were too numerous and had too much popular support to be defeated on the battlefield.
"You need to bring them into a more transparent type of government," Frist said during a brief visit to a U.S. and Romanian military base in the southern Taliban stronghold of Qalat. "And if that's accomplished, we'll be successful."
...
According to an Associated Press count, based on reports from U.S., NATO and Afghan officials, at least 2,800 people have been killed nationwide so far this year. The count, which includes militants and civilians, is about 1,300 more than the toll for all of 2005.
Frist has since said he only meant amnesty and entering the political process for people who call themselves Taliban, not the actual Taliban. I guess we just have to ask them all "Are you or have you ever been a card-carrying member of the Taliban Party"?
Of course, it's total bullshit to say that we will be able to know which Taliban or insurgents killed troops pr not. That's absurd and everyone knows it.
It's Retreatican Strategery is what it is. How can we maintain a safe world if we let the Taliban back in, and al-Queda along with them? Won't we be right back where we started on 9/12?
That's what the Retreaticans are proposing now.
How do you think the Retreatican policy of giving amnesty to the Iraqi insurgents and to the Taliban is going to fly with the families who have lost loved ones in Iraq or Afghanistan or the WTC? How will amnesty for the killers of US troops go over with the Freepers and wingnutosphere? Could the news of this plan turn off another portion of the GOP base?
I guess if you want amnesty for the killers of US troops vote GOP as a good-bye present for Frist and for a continued Republican Senate.
Please RECOMMEND to help get the word out that the GOP is now offering amnesty to Marine and Soldier-Killers and Frist and Bush are making nice with the Taliban.
And take the poll...
