This is Ryan Friebele again, the Canvassing Coordinator for the John Laesch for U.S. Congress campaign. I have yet another story of spreading the good news of change in America, here in Illinois' 14th congressional district.
When I was in Aurora, Illinois, this past week, I met one particular gentleman who asked me about habeas corpus and why Bush as well as other Republicans were seeking to deny our citizens this right. This man was shocked to hear of the list of civil liberties, which the Republican Party has sought to deny our citizens.
When I was in Sandwich, Illinois, one woman who had voted Republican in the past three elections told me she had enough. When I informed her of whom John was running against, she immediately told me, "Oh Hastert?! John has my vote!"
More and more Republicans are waking up to the lies they have been fed and the culture of corruption right before their eyes. Both Democrats and Republicans want change and John Laesch represents that change.
The more I canvass throughout the 14th district, the more people I meet who are grateful to see John Laesch, a conscientious man, effectively run against Dennis Hastert and bring Hastert's support down to no more than 52%, according to the Constituent Dynamics poll. Many individuals have feared retribution from within their own communities for voicing their disapproval of their congressman, a congressman who was supposed to represent his people.
With John running though, there is renewed hope in the hearts of the residents of the 14th district that change may soon come. The feeling in the 14th district is that Hastert has failed in his job as representative, and that is why John is going to win this election in November.
John has one of the strongest grassroots campaigns in the nation and he has not accepted contributions from any corporate interests. John is a man of the people and when he wins on November 7, it will be the people of Illinois' 14th district who will have elected him, not big money.
As I said before, we can always use more volunteers to go door-to-door with us for a few hours, so if you are in any of the following areas and can give a few hours to spread the word about John, please call our office at 630-385-8568 or any one of the contact persons below:
