The national GOP is throwing everything they've got to the Sali campaign, apparently including
Dick Cheney:
COEUR d'ALENE -- Vice President Dick Cheney is scheduled to arrive at the Coeur d'Alene Airport in Hayden next Thursday, possibly to lend a hand to U.S. Senate [sic] candidate Bill Sali....
It's not known why the vice president is coming to the Lake City. Several sources speculated that Cheney is coming to help Sali and that tickets to a fundraiser will be sold soon.
Sali's campaign manager, Jesseca Sali, said Bill Sali will be in Coeur d'Alene that day.
"He's going to be in North Idaho for a couple of days," Jesseca Sali said. "As to meeting with the vice president, you'd have to check with his staff."
For all the coyness, it seems pretty damned unlikely that a week and a half before the election Sali and Cheney just happen to be in the same remote Idaho town.
Maybe now the DCCC will take Idaho as seriously as the GOP does.
