Doug Lamborn, the (R) candidate who's leaking support faster than you can say "Watch out for that iceb...." continues his fall in what was a gimme seat for the R's. He
cracks in the latest ad from the Jay Fawcett campaign.
The Fawcett campaign's new ad is here. DCCC is supposedly coming in with a buy for it right this second. Doug's world famous "Shut up" and "I don't have my own plan" quotes are included for your viewing enjoyment....
Lamborn leaks the "Club for Growth" ad which misrepresents Jay's positions on taxes....
Here are Jay's real positions on those tax issues, which the Club for Growth is passing off in support of Doug "One Issue" Lamborn:
CfG sez: "Jay Fawcett wants to raise your taxes."
If you make more than $150K a year. If you do make the big bucks then vote for Doug. Oh, and call me, I know this great lunch place downtown.
CfG sez: "Jay Fawcett wants eliminate the Bush tax cuts."
Jay: "I'm not sure tax cuts are actually effecting tax reduction. That's why saying, 'Well, we'll cut taxes' won't necessarily work."
Anyone but those with the most simple - or selfish - views of what government does can understand Jay's point. As for Doug, he's been hangin' with Doug Bruce and Grover Norquist way too much.
And finally, Doug Lamborn bleeds more Republican support in CD-5:
The Republican committeeman for a Black Forest precinct resigned Thursday because he is supporting Democrat Jay Fawcett in the 5th Congressional District race.
El Paso County GOP Chairwoman Terry Kunkel said an earlier defection increased support for the Republican candidate, Doug Lamborn, and this one could have the same effect.
Precinct 240 Chairman Preston Cooper sent a letter Thursday to Kunkel and The Gazette stating his intention to resign.
Now Cheney is coming to water-board us Dems, and maybe some of those brave Republicans, here in El Paso County to try to sway our votes. I just hope Shooter (as Ed Schultz calls him) doesn't bring his shotgun.
But like Colorado Luis has said, Colorado Springs will never be the same after this election, and it will be due to the great candidates and hard working volunteers and the wizened-up voters who saw Republicans' repeated failures and empty rhetoric were hurting our state.
It's about time.
