On a day when I could use a little sunshine, I just got a lot of it. Do you ever feel frustrated, downhearted, disgusted? Why am I even asking? Of course you do. You are all members of the reality-based community. How could you not have these feelings at least some of the time? It is as a result of having these feelings (almost all of the time) that I began volunteering for MoveOn.Org, making phone calls to people all over the country. While sometimes I get rude answers or people who hang up in my ear, many people have been answering in the affirmative that they are going to vote for the (Democratic) candidate in their district.
More after the fold...
After viewing the video of Matt Lauer talking trash about Michael J. Fox, my mood took a turn for the worse. Darkness took over and yet I knew that I should continue making some calls. I did, and I am so happy that I did. I just got off the phone with a man, a former Republican who says he is just sick of it and is voting all Democratic. He was a Reagan Republican who believes in America and is sickened by what he sees happening. I have to tell you, I got goosebumps talking to this guy. This was a guy we might not have had in 2004. We probably didn't have him in 2000 either. But we have got his vote now. He represents success to me. He gives me hope for the future.
The good, regular guys in this country are coming back to us. We can do this people. You nd I have more in common with this guy than any of us have with the corporate CEOs. It is all about finding common ground. The people are fed up. They want an alternative. Let's show them the way.
Anyone else have any good calling experiences they want to share?
