I mean, besides fear itself? I'm askeered of Bathos. He's a guy who owns a gyros stand on 34th & Vine. No, seriously, folks, I'm concerned that the outcome of the election will be inconclusive, ambiguous, difficult to read, will precipitate a protracted round of jibbering and blibbering that will serve as cover for mo' worser depredations by the W, who will, regardless of the outcome still, alas, be the preznit.
Right now, as we (virtually) speak, proposals are under consideration that will shield corporations from liability, criminal or civil, for their Enron-esque malfeasances. These self same corporations are slyly and nimbly figuring out how to pay even less taxes than they do now (and stick me with the unpaid bill, of course) through some newly discovered 'loop hole' I just read about in the morning edition of the ologopolistic rag that serves as the 'newspaper' in my home town. Hospitals are diverting their attention from their healing mission just long enough to make sure we can never retrieve our medical records from them in they event that they make a boo-boo.
And I'm just really askeered that that all this stuff will go on and on and on to the end of time, regardless of the outcome of the mid-terms.
Of course I plan to be at my polling place at the opening bell and vote like the mother of all Democrats. But I'm still scared.
