Below is a little bit of history they didn't teach you in High School. Also, I think that the Neo-con would not like you to learn, because then we could learn from our countries past.

In the being of the formation of this country, the founders had no real interest in giving up the power held by the rich in the colonies. They did not want to wage war on the aristocracy, that ran the colonies. Although they hoped to some what stifle there power, they had no intention of letting the commoner step in. They had no faith in the common population, be intelligent enough to run the new country. Yet they felt that if bridled and reined, they would fight for the freeing on the colonies from British rule.
Before the America Revolution, most countries were under single power group rule, made up of, warlords, religious leaders, and those with political ideologies which could manipulate the people. There were not any countervailing power groups to counter the monolithic rulers.
The Revolution was suppose to put a republic democracy in place, with different branches to provide a countervailing balance. However, the leaders of the clandestine 1787 Constitutional Congress concocted a flawed Constitution which made it possible for a plutocratic minority to seize all reins of power.
Patrick Henry refused to attend the 1787 Constitutional Convention, and other true democratic leaders such as, Martin Luther, George Masson, and Elbridge Gerry, refused to sign the new constitution because it didn't have a Bill of Rights .George Masson said, "The president and the senate will form a combination that will not be able to be stopped by the representatives. The executive and legislative powers thus connected, will destroy all balances."
At the time of the Constitutional Convention Thomas Jefferson was in Paris, and only realized upon returning to the states, that the federalist party had created a new form of tyranny by seizing all power. It became clear to the democratic leaders, and the American people in general, that the federalist had basically over thrown the republic, and installed a dictatorship in it's place.
So the worst fear of anti-federalist like George Masson and Thomas Jefferson had come to be realized, that with out a Bill of Rights, and a means of separation of powers, a small fraction could appropriate the powers of the government This proved to make the constitution a failure from the beginning.
I hope you have found the 1st instalment, enlightening and that it shed some light on what is going on in our government today. One thing that really scares the crap out of me is that according to the last election results, just over ½ the voters in this country can't see that.
[Next I will discus and compare.]
