a touch of good news from the CBO
The federal budget estimate for the fiscal year just completed dropped to $250 billion, congressional estimators said Friday, as the economy continues to fuel impressive tax revenues.
The Congressional Budget Office's latest estimate is $10 billion below CBO predictions issued in August and well below a July White House prediction of $296 billion.
We had a speaker at Church last week for a Bread for the World food drive we have started. Her passionate plea for our country to feed as many in the world as possible was very poignant. We funded last year .42 percent of the Federal Budget toward hunger relief, not even a full ONE percent. Surely we can do better than that. Another number she cited was her organization receiving inquiries by a Congress person's office after getting a 'lot of calls' after she spoke at a Church....so the Congress person got interested based on 8 phone calls....only 8 calls is what the Congressperson's office called 'a lot'. She also stated after meeting with Rep. Bachus (R) he turned into a very active champion of funding the hunger relief programs and remains so to this day, so kudos to him.
so just a few calls or emails make a difference to your representatives, do that for those that hunger.
