I just got off the phone with with my parents in Nebraska. My Dad is a lifelong Republican. A fact that has always been frustrating for me because both have agreed on the goal, but disagreed on the way to achieve those goals. He belives in trickle down. I believe that if people make a living wage, nothing has to trickle down. I believe that the only way to regain our standing in the global community is to respect our allies. He believes that they're going to hate us anyway, so why cater to their "agenda".
More below.
But at the end of the day, we both agree on the social goals: education, security, health care, all of the important social issues. Our approach has always been at complete odds.
But you know what? This time, he's voting for the man, and not the party. He's voting for Scott Kleeb.
We started talking politics and he got kinda quiet. Then he said, "You know what? I'm voting for Democrat. I'm voting for scott Kleeb."
People, if my lifelong republican Dad is voting for Kleeb, then there are a whole bunch of other Republicans who are doing the same thing.
Truly, I'm amazed. My Dad's decision says so much. There is hope.
