Matt Huge made this grammatical error again and again, so he must just not know any better. He clearly is the victim of years of faltering U.S. education. I sympathies with his problem, it is probably not his fault, but why can't MSNBC find announcers that are more literate that this Matt Huge character?
Wednesday night I settled down in front of the TV and channel-hopped with the remote hoping to find some discussion about the Tuesday elections. I chanced on MSNBC and found some of what I wanted.
MSNBC - is that somehow related to the NBC I used to watch on the old black and white sets as a kid?
Anyway, what I heard on TV made me lose my train of thought. I wanted to find out about the election results, but my mind turned instead to public education and its decline. Back when I was in school we studied English grammar. We diagramed sentences and stuff. It wasn't my favorite subject, but I did come out of the process knowing the difference between a noun and an adjective.
I'm told that they don't teach grammar in schools today and what I heard on the TV made me realize what a loss that has been. There was this guy on there Chris somebody. No, I think it was Matt. Maybe it was Matt Huge. I'm not sure that's the right name but I'll use it - it's hard to say how huge he is (all I had was the TV image) but he had a pretty big head with short blond hair.
Anyway, Matt Huge is a guy who clearly went through school without learning any grammar. He repeatedly talked about the Democrat Party. Now anyone who studied grammar in school knows that Democrat is a noun and you just don't use a noun to modify another noun. If Matt Huge had studied grammar in school he would know that you use an adjective (like Democratic) to modify nouns (like Party).

I still don't think I have that guy's name quite right, but I suppose he won't mind my error. He won't mind being called Matt Huge any more than the Democratic Party minds being called the Democrat Party.
