Suppose we start running straw polls around here soon, who should be on the list? This is what I have so far from my notes of previous straw polls and events since then, and the unending stream of comments about leaving Gore/Dean off the list.
I haven't decided, stop asking until 2007
Governor Mark Warner (not running)
Governor Tom Vilsack
Governor Bill Richardson (uncommitted)
Senator John Kerry (uncommitted)
Vice President Al Gore (uncommitted)
Senator Russ Feingold (not running)
Senator John Edwards (uncommitted)
Senator Chris Dodd
Senator Tom Daschle (uncommitted)
Senator Hillary Clinton (uncommitted)
General Wesley Clark (uncommitted)
Senator Joe Biden
Senator Evan Bayh (uncommitted)
Governor Howard Dean (not running)
Senator Mike Gravel
Senator Barack Obama (uncommitted)
And for spice, who's on deck for the Republicans?
Senator John McCain (uncommitted)
Mayor Rudy Giuliani (uncommitted)
Governor Jeb Bush (uncommitted)
Senator Bill Frist (uncommitted)
Governor Mitt Romney (uncommitted)
Senator Sam Brownback (uncommitted)
Governor Mike Huckabee (uncommitted)
Governor Tommy Thompson (uncommitted)
I want to put Republicans on the list so that on a
ratings ballot we can see who rates a -10 and who only rates a -5. Also it will shield Hillary from some -10 votes since it would seem wrong not to give the actual opposition a lower rating.
And of course
there will be write-ins, so who knows, maybe Bob Johnson would win with a stealth landslide. Or maybe that's just ballot box stuffing.
