The DailyKos software, which now allows Trusted Users to up and down rate posts, even to the extent of removing them from the view of non-TU's, should be modified to allow TU's to up and down rate diaries while they are in the scroll.
The purpose is to slow the scroll-off of good diaries, and hasten the scroll-off of bad ones.
We already accept TU judgment. This is merely an expansion of the editing structure.
The same algorithm that makes people TU's could be adjusted to add or remove TU status by considering diary upgrading and removal as well as posting activity, mojo points, and posting well-received diaries.
UPDATE: Recommending ONLY a speedup and slowdown button.
Everything else the same. Please Recommend til then...
I think the TU process is one of the reasons this site has such good diaries.
Quality creeps down as site grows, but the ability of the reader to read doesn't grow.
If Kos want people to stay here, and contribute, pruning needs to be done continuously. Fact of gardening, Kos.
Since the algorithm is secret, the effects would be the criterium, as they should be.
We already disappear comments. TU's who feel strongly could exercise their power to speedup and slowdown scrolling off the new diaries list.
Just think, you could be speeding up this one, or recommending it, which could be done by slamming it up against the top of the list, perhaps.
