The recount (if you can call just it that without anything to actually count for most of the votes) is done in FL-13. The Republican Buchanan has a 369 vote lead over the Democrat Jennings. Those results will be sent this weekend to the state and certified on Monday. After that there is a 10 day period of time where the results could be appealed.
The state Division of Elections is going to audit the machines, but for whatever excuse (I haven't heard one yet) they have put off STARTING the audit until the week after Thanksgiving. Which means the results won't be available until after the 10 day window to contest the results.
And to show just how far divorced from reality some people are, Sarasota Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent will also be sending in an election report and according to the Herald Tribune she says the machines are fine:
Dent said she plans to answer no to questions of whether voting equipment malfunctioned or affected the outcome of the race, since she believes the now-controversial touchscreen machines did notmake any errors.
This is despite the numerous complaints made by voters even during early voting.
The Herald Tribune did a survey of poll workers:
About half of the county's 156 precinct officials responded to the unofficial survey.
Of those, about one in five officials said voters complained they did not notice the congressional race when initially voting. About one in eight said their precincts had problems with voting machines that forced them to shut down or replace machines. And a much larger number, more than one in three, had general complaints from voters about having trouble getting votes to record in that race.
"Many walked out of the booth saying they could not see the race or they would have missed it entirely except for the review," said Norma Dayton, assistant clerk at Precinct 89 at the Venice Community Center. "Touching the screen did not always register a vote. Often voters had to press hard two, three, four times to make their votes count."
While you're over at the Herald Times you can check out their entire section devoted to the count. They are doing an excellent job.
Also, if you can, there's an Act Blue page to donate to help out Jennings.
