Well for me this brings things full circle. Last January I went to a fundraiser for Paul Hackett to see what all the fuss was about - and while I was there I met someone named Jan Brown. After the normal small talk, we started talking about kayaking and rafting and outdoor activies. She pointed to a man and said, "My husband Charlie loves doing outdoor things - oh and by the way he is running for Congress against John Doolittle". Needless to say as someone who learned to raft guide on the American River, she had me at "he's running against John Doolittle".
there's more!
I asked her to keep in touch on the campaign, which was in it's earliest stages. Only a day or so later, Paul Hackett dropped out of the Senate race, but lucky for us he has continued to work on behalf of a lot of fabulous candidates. Jan kept her promise (which as I would learn is clearly part of her makeup) and emailed me about various events. As things took off for the campaign, I've gone to a ton of fundraisers, I've blogged, I've phonebanked and each time I see the Browns they great me like an old friend.
For me, it's particularly great to see Paul back standing shoulder to shoulder with Charlie. I know alot of you are planning on working on the GOTV effort over the next few days, but here are some other chances to show your support.

As always, if you have anything left in the financial tank, I know the campaign has some ads that they would love to keep on running over the next few days.
