Seriously.
I wish this was satire.
The United States Senate is about to pass a new copyright bill that would turn everyday Americans into criminals. This report is not a joke: it's about HR2391, the intellectual property protection act. Keep reading to learn how your consumer rights are under intense attack, and then forward this to your friends to help spread the word. Because if this bill isn't stopped, you could technically be thrown in prison for burning an audio CD and copying the files to your favorite MP3 player.
I realized both parties in our government were whored out to special interest money a long time ago, but when the MPAA and RIAA have this much influence, it's time to form a new government, like the Declaration of Independence says, just a little farther out west.
I'm not surprised this is being pushed by Orrin Hatch, since he seems to hate the Internet. Remember his pushing of the idea to have software that would "nuke" your computer if you were caught downloading files?
The really ridiculous part is that this would even criminalize the use of iTunes, which I thought was supposed to be the compromise when it came to downloading MP3's.
This shit is crazy. CRAAAAAAZY. It's even worse than the Disney "Steamboat Willie" copyright decision.
I know there's plenty of action alerts on this site, but this is something we need to write our senators about. This is another shot across the bow of our free society and should not be allowed to stand.
