A great blog about an image of a dead soldier, published outside of America, but not within. Shows how complicit our media is in "supporting
the troops the war". It is clear that uncomfortable truths are ignored and whitewashed by the Bush administration, but how deep is the complicity of our media?
From the photographer:
"In any conflict, there are at least two sides. People die on both sides. Due to the reasons stated above, a photograph showing the dead from one side of the war in Iraq, the American side, is pretty tough to come by. Therefore, when an opportunity presents itself to do so, I believe it is incumbent on photo editors to take it, in the name of fairness and accuracy. Images of dead insurgents and dead civilians from Iraq are published regularly. The New York Times even put an image showing a number of murdered Iraqi civilians dumped into a ditch on their front page, above the fold, in full color. So why not this picture?"
