Michael Ware is a true hero to me. When the rest of the American press is at best, asleep, or at worst, reading off White House press releases, he risks his life everyday to tell the truth on the ground in Iraq. And he has been doing it for over 3 years. I know many will say that he is safe in the Green Zone. We have all read the reports that it is not if but when – the Green Zone is horribly attacked. My hope and prayer is that he will leave by then. Even though he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who will. More below the fold.
Here is a sampling of comments I picked up in just 10 minutes:

Michael Ware on Iraq
When Michael Ware finally comes back from Iraq, he deserves some kind of significant journalistic award. For months, he was one of the few voices on American television who really called things as they are.

As usual, CNN's Michael Ware paints a stark and depressing picture of the deteriorating
security situation in Iraq. He details the never-ending (and escalating) violence
and calls it what it is — a brutal civil war with no end in sight.

From a lighter side: So, is it a civil war? Hell, there's nothing civil about
this war. Great report from Michael Ware of CNN:. Wolf Blitzer interviews Dubya.
Our lunatic president still doesn't get it. Then,
CNN's Michael Ware tells it like it is when reporting from Baghdad. Follow the

The Peabody Award
Hopefully, WARE will come home and in one piece. Should he there IS an award he deserves – an award that is not shunned these days or considered superpfulous. It is a “journalists” award respected by journalists and it is called THE PEABODY AWARD and in my humble judgement no one deserves it more. Here is some info on the Peabody Award. The point of this diary is that if you believe as I do, that Ware deserves to win it, we here at KOS owe it to him to help CNN nominate him. I am quite confident we can’t do this.
The Peabody Awards recogonize women and men in journalism who have truly made a difference. It is the most respected award amongst journalists today.
