It's really quite simple, and the MSM got it wrong. Bush threatened Webb’s family.
Remember, in Mafia movies, when the Mob Boss asks the Good Guy "and how is your son? doesn't he go to St Mary’s?" and the Good Guy gets the messages and is afraid.
The President did that to Webb.
Bush is Webb son's boss. He can send his son, and his son’s unit, into danger. That's a real threat to any parent. To ignore Webb’s response (Bush: that's not what I asked) was Bush's power trip, and a call to action for Webb.
Remember Bush's personal interactions, more often than not, are inappropriate and creepy. (They keep him in a bubble just for that reason).
I'm sure that Bush was not sincere when he asked about Webb’s son. Webb responded to the emotional content, not the words.
Bush will not be bi-partisan. Proof? His staffs are not planning one bi-partisan program today with the Democrats.
The next six months our Democratic leaders will need all the courage and smarts they can get to stand up to BushCo.
Webb doesn't seem to care about being more than a one-term Senator. He seems to be ready to work to get things done today. More power to him.
Always remember, by running for office, Webb has put his own son in harms way. He thinks about that evey day and so must we. Public Service means a lot more to Senator Webb than to most Senators.
