I knew how important the stakes are for every race, but you have to see this email. It is an excellent reminder that federal races cannot be the only focus.
This email was sent from Connie Basham, the Republican who is challenging incumbent Democrat Joe Micon for his Indiana state House seat. She compares herself to Moses, and then goes on to say, "The Enemy has certainly been working overtime to tear down the credibility of God's chosen. Let's not let the Evil One win this time!"
Ironically, Joe Micon has dedicated his life to the Lafayette Urban Ministry - one of the most admired local programs that truly helps our poor every day. Connie became a millionaire renting run-down apartments to Purdue students. But we should vote for her because she is one of God's Chosen.
Ms. Basham's email is below, in full. Pay particular attention to the last paragraph...
. Please pray, right now, that God will send the right people to the polls tomorrow,11/7/06. So much is at stake, and I firmly believe He can make the difference in the election's outcome--not only for my election, but for others around the state and country.
Last night, I was reminded by a friend to dwell on the following scripture, Luke 11:23-24: "I tell you the truth; if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."
Another friend reminded me that "some plant, some water; but it is God who brings the increase." I've done all I can do at this point, and I DO believe the result rests in His hands.
And I also believe the lesson we learned in the Old Testament, when God told Moses to keep his hands in the air until victory was achieved. God provided two faithful friends to raise Moses's arms when he became too tired to do it himself. I'm trusting you, my friends, to help me keep my hands raised. I'm very, very tired; but my faith is rich and full!
So, please . . . today and tomorrow, when you have a fleeting thought of the election, please agree with me that He will provide the votes needed to make me the next State Representative and provide a voice for innocent children and seniors, a voice for true education reform and a voice for continued prosperity in the state. I'm truly believing for this answer from Him. And please pray that nationwide, voters keep the balance of power in the hands of moral, godly people. The Enemy has certainly been working overtime to tear down the credibility of God's chosen. Let's not let the Evil One win this time!
Many thanks to all of you for exercising YOUR faith right now. You hold a key in your hands. Please . . . PRAY EARLY, AND PRAY OFTEN! Get the reference there?
Many blessings on you and yours!
