Like many a wayward Dem, I had long ago given up on the party and the whole notion of American politics. Then, in 2003, I heard this short, centrist, white guy from Vermont saying things like,
"What I want to know, what I want to know, is what in the world so many Democrats are doing supporting the President's unilateral intervention in Iraq?"
I nearly choked on my elitist latte! Then, he had the audacity to say I want my country back! We want our country back! I'm tired of being divided! I don't want to listen to the fundamentalist preachers anymore. I want America to look like America, where we are all included, hand in hand.
I was intrigued.
Well, what I want to know
now is, how far can we go? Do we really have the power? Can we really take our country back, and make it live up to its highest promise? Is it just one (very, very important) Senate primary, or are we able to take it further?
That's definitely what I want to know (and what many a DC Democrat doesn't).
