I know there are still a lot of diehard Deanies who insist that he still has a chance. They'll tell you that only 10% of the delegates have been chosen. But even if Dean wins with 90% of the vote in Wisconsin, instead of losing by 90% which is far more likely, he still wouldn't get a big enough bounce to overtake Kerry. The fluidity of this election has hardened more than Rush Limbaugh's arteries.
So if we still want a competitive race leading up to Super Tuesday and beyond, there's really only one possibility, as far as I can see it. We should pressure Dean to drop out ASAP, and throw our support behind Edwards. Right now I feel pretty comfortable in the Kerry camp, but I think I speak for many like me when I say that I'm ready to throw my support behind Edwards if he can pose a real challenge to Kerry.
I think that we need to give Edwards a better shot at this, and the only thing standing in his way is Dean. The way I see it, this race just has to be about Edwards and Kerry right now. And frankly it's better for Kerry if he has one serious challenger to face going into the convention. He needs to be tested a little longer.
