I don't know wether this has been diaried before, but ABC has an interesting article by BETH FOUHY about Al Gore, the Oscars and a possible 2008 Presidential bid. If it has been diaried before, use this as an other diary to vent your comments vis-a-vis a possible Gore run.

In the article, Fouhy looks at the things which are a bonus for a possible Gore candidacy and she comes to the following conclusions:
Gore is currently the the 800-pound non-candidate of the Democratic field.
The following points work in Gore's favor:
- A lot of goodwill and support due to his 2000 bid
- Could be a unifying figure on the Democratic side
- He has won fame for "An Inconvenient Truth,"
- His outspoken environmentalism and opposition to the Iraq war has drawn raves from many Democrats.
- Although previously derided as a wooden know-it-all, the new Gore is funny. He's done humorous turns on "Saturday Night Live" and voiced a disembodied head on the cartoon "Futurama".
- Financially independant: Due to a range of business ventures, including a longtime advisory relationship with Google and a seat on Apple Computer's board of directors, according to aides Gore could easily spend as much as $50 million of his own money to launch a presidential run.
For people - like me - who are hoping for an other Gore encore, these are all encouraging thoughts. Question remains wether "Big Al" is going to throw his hat in to the ring and only waits to see how the field shakes out before making a final decision or decides not to run... Personally I agree with Fouhy, all the things she listed would make Gore the perfect candidate and would make him not only the front runner to win the nomination but also to win the general as well.
