This diary is part of a continuing series of diaries to keep attention on the FL-13 missing votes.
Once again the Sarasota Herald Tribune seems to get the story best,
December 19. 2006, Jennings camp expert testifies on first day of election suit hearing, By LLOYD DUNKELBERGER,
TALLAHASSEE - A political science professor from MIT testified Tuesday that Democrat Christine Jennings would have won the Congressional District 13 race by as much as 3,100 votes if there had not be an "excessive" undervote in the election in Sarasota County.
Remember, this dispute is not about partisan politics, it is about 18,000 voters whose votes didn't register on the *!*#*$** machines. The voters deserve our support and our democracy requires it (if we are to have a democracy).

A little about the Republican from a Sarasota Hearld Tribune Story (I didn't know private citizens are allowed to tour Iraq).
December 19. 2006 12:06PM, Buchanan says he'll go to Iraq, By DOUG SWORD, Congressman-elect Vern Buchanan says he will go to Iraq next year to judge the situation for himself. Story Link
The Republicans thoughts on the war:
Asked if he thought the war can be won, Buchanan said, "I’d like to think that." Story Link
From JR's post on monday, which seems to show, that if Congress or a Judge, declares the seat vacant, a new election will be held.
I was looking over Florida Election Codes and found this on Page 31:
100.111 Filling vacancy.—(5) In the event of unforeseeable circumstances not contemplated in these general election laws concerning the calling and holding of special primary elections and special elections resulting from court order or other unpredictable circumstances, the Department of State shall have the authority to provide for the conduct of orderly elections.

If Republicans want to stand up for denying real voters the right to have their votes counted, have at it. It's not 2000 and voters have a much different attitude about voting (and Republicans).
I don't see this as a partisan issue. The issue to me: The rights of the 18,000 voters, whose votes were not counted.
