This afternoon, President Bush gave his final press conference before he heads off to his Crawford ranch for Christmas. Any guesses about what's on his wish list?
With more than 100,000 people — and counting — signing on to our Stop Keroack petition and 110 members of Congress calling for Keroack's ouster, my guess is that the president wants the uproar over his anti-birth control appointee to go away. But we have a better idea for the president: make Keroack go away. The House members got it right in the letter that was fired up to HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt today: Eric Keroack is a "horrendous mistake" and should be replaced. And they mean it.
When pro-choice House leadership takes the reins in January, they'll have the power to subpoena government officials. This means that Eric Keroack could end up testifying before a House committee and have some serious explaining to do. So before President Bush sends his letter off to the North Pole, he should keep one thing in mind — 100,000 pro-choice activists and 110 members of Congress may all be making the same New Year's resolution: Stop Keroack.
